Planning a Backyard Pool or Hot Tub Party

Inviting everyone over to hang out by the water is one of the best ways to celebrate friendship. Many people greatly enjoy hosting a party from their own home, which is a great excuse to get everyone together. With the added benefit of your own luxurious swimming pool and/or hot tub, getting everyone together is sure to create some pretty incredible memories that they will be talking about for years to come. With a few easy tips on how to plan the perfect event, you can be certain this will be something they won’t soon forget!

Throwing an Unforgettable Party

Many of us seem to generate an interesting variety of friends. While some can be extremely social and warm, there does always seem to be a few who take a little coaxing to open up who usually stay to themselves. As a host, it is considerate to create an environment that can be comfortable for everyone.

Communicate with Attendees

Make sure guests are aware of what your party will entail so they can plan accordingly. If you intend to be in the water all day, remind them to bring sunscreen, but be sure to keep some on hand just in case. Have several towels accessible for those who may neglect to bring their own. Be mindful of any possible food allergies and if there will be children in the pool, consider renting a lifeguard for the party or designating a responsible adult for the position. An anxiety-free space that everybody can enjoy is always greatly appreciated.

Entertainment

It is a good idea to have plenty of entertainment available. The better a time people are having, the longer they will stay. However, be sure to designate a time when guests should be expected to leave. With the incredible experience you are sure to give them, it might be difficult to get them to go home!

Some entertainment ideas could include:

  • Swimming pool games
  • Waterproof cards for the hot tub
  • Board games for the patio area
  • Volleyball net for the pool
  • Balls, noodles, floaties, and more

Some find that a popular playlist with catchy music on an outside speaker can help set the mood. Be mindful of favorite songs and groups. If you have designated a theme for your party, playing Carribean songs or pirate shanties can be a delightful addition to the evening. Add in cold drinks served in coconuts with little umbrellas and grass table skirts to create a fun and interesting environment.

Toys and Water Accessories

Consider a few toys for amusement, such as beach balls, squirt guns, and diving wands, in addition to floating lounges for those who would rather watch than participate. Yard games such as badminton and horseshoes can be appreciated by all ages. Make sure there are plenty of places for people to sit when they need to take a break or escape the sun if it gets to be too hot.

Food, Food, Food!

Anticipate what food may be necessary for the day. If a meal is expected, consider ordering pizzas or sandwiches in advance. Swimming is a very physical exercise and you are sure to have some growling stomachs before too long. Keep something for snacking on the table to keep everyone feeling refreshed. Chilled fruits, sliced vegetables with a dip on ice, and crackers should appeal to even the pickiest of eaters. Be sure to not only keep plenty of sodas and juice on hand to elevate energy levels, but also enough bottled water to prevent unnecessary and absolutely avoidable dehydration.
